Work on the sound walls is nearing completion on the north side of the 210 freeway between Baldwin Ave. and west to Rosemead Blvd. (see photos below) It’s one of many City improvement projects underway right now that can be seen by clicking the index of Arcadia’s Best stories in the category of “Getting Around.”

Deputy Director of Development Services Phil Wray says the project is funded by the State and administered by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority under permits from Caltrans.

The wall locations and heights were determined by an extensive noise study undertaken by the State and LACMTA many years ago.

Another segment between Santa Anita Ave. and Mountain Ave. is just starting. The traffic control measures for this segment have been installed in preparation for the work including lane closures on the ramps and concrete barriers along the edge lanes.
