School bucks state budget

On March 9 the Board of Education of the Arcadia Unified School District (AUSD) adopted Resolution No. 1211 in opposition of Governor Schwarzenegger’s Proposed Budget.

According to the school board, the Governor’s proposed budget will reduce education funding by $900 million in the current year and an additional 2.4 billion in 2010-2011 school year. The board says these unprecedented cuts will change education for an entire generation. If the proposed budget is implemented it will result in more than $4 mil. in additional reductions to the Arcadia Unified School District budget.

The board respectfully urges the Governor and the Legislature to minimize the fiscal impact to schools in the process of balancing the state budget.
