JOCKEY QUOTES

EDWIN MALDONADO, CALIFORNIA DIAMOND, WINNER: “The minute he left the gate like that, I knew I had a great shot to win. I want to thank John for doing a great job, he’s excellent. “He broke a little slow in his first out, so I kind of had to rush him, but today, he was push button.”

FLAVIEN PRAT, GREEN WITH EDDIE, SECOND: “He tried real hard and he ran a good race. I wish I could’ve waited a little longer, but that’s the way the race set up.”

TRAINER QUOTES

JOHN BROCKLEBANK, CALIFORNIA DIAMOND, WINNER: “He’s very game this horse. We were a one horse barn there for a little while. California Diamond is now owned by Twin V Farm. Twin V Farm is Jeff (my brother) and (my wife) Vicki Brocklebank. We started that a few weeks ago. We just like to sell horses, period. We love California Diamond, but he is for sale. He’s already entered into the Barretts sale, I entered him last night actually. “Today he was sharper than in his last out. He trained sharp all week. We didn’t do a whole lot with him after his first win. Luis Mendez, my assistant, has done a great job with him.”

NOTES: The winning owners are Vicki Brocklebank, of Hurricane, UT and Jeff Brocklebank who race as Twin V Farm.
