Recreation and Community Services weekly report - the week of December 12 - 18, 2021

SENIOR LUNCH PROGRAM Seniors enjoy stopping by the Community Center not just to have lunch, but to see their friends, meet new people, and socialize. A total of 271 lunch meals were served the week of December 13.

WINTER SESSION Fall classes came to an end the week of December 13. Registration for Winter is now open for residents and non-residents as of December 13. There are over 100 classes to choose from for all ages. Register today at ArcadiaCa.gov or pick up The Peacock Buzz at City Hall. WINTER CAMP 2021 Winter Camp will be held at Baldwin Stocker Elementary School from 8am to 6pm, December 20-23 and December 27-30. This popular camp will include sports games, arts & crafts, and much more! AFTERSCHOOL PLAYGROUNDS PROGRAM During the week of December 13, the afterschool program had a total of 122 participants in attendance. The program includes group games and plenty of activities to keep participants engaged and entertained. Recreation Leader, Kaitlyn Li, from Camino Grove, ran a fun game called “King Square” with her participants.


COVID-19 VACCINATION & FLU SHOT CLINIC On December 13 & 15, the Chinatown Service Center provided COVID-19 vaccinations and flu shots at the Arcadia Community Center. There were 113 people who received the Moderna vaccine, 104 received the Pfizer vaccine, 23 received the J & J vaccine, and 3 received their flu shot. The Chinatown Service Center is looking to collaborate again in the future, so we will explore this option next year.

HOMELESS COST REPORTING OCTOBER The Recreation and Community Services Department has been the lead in tracking the number of hours each department spends addressing homelessness. There are two reports to show the data during this fiscal year. The first report indicates the total of $89,348.58 from October. The second report shows the cumulative data from each department over the course of the fiscal year, and the amount each department spent for a grant total of $479,203 and 2,183 staff hours. The number of hours and the cost associated with addressing homelessness will be available for you on a monthly basis.
