Recreation and Community Services Department weekly report - 11/21 to 11/27/2021

SENIOR LUNCH PROGRAM Seniors enjoy stopping by the Community Center not just to have lunch, but to see their friends, meet new people, and socialize. The monthly menu includes lasagna, chicken tacos, fish, stuffed pepper, and the all-time favorite, meatloaf! A total of 284 lunch meals were served the week of November 22. SENIOR CLASSES During the week of November 22, walk-in and virtual classes had 374 students registered. Classes include Pilates, Cardio, Fit for Life, Intermediate Line Dance, Zumba and more. GIFT SHOP The Gift Shop is open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10am to 1pm. During the week of November 22, there were 33 shoppers and sales of $67. THANKSGIVING FEAST On November 24, a sold out Thanksgiving Feast event was held at the Community Center. Guests enjoyed a traditional meal with all the fixings served by our very own Arcadia Fire Department staff.

PROMOTIONS AND NEW HIRE Congratulations to Ashley Marston who was promoted to Management Aide. Ashley began her career with the City in 2016 as a Recreation Coordinator. She will be working at the Community Center under the supervision of Sara Somogyi. Jasmine Rosas was recently promoted from part-time Activity Leader II to Recreation Coordinator. Jasmine has been employed with the City since 2019 and will be under the supervision of Gina Hernandez. Her duties include the Peacock Buzz Brochure, Contract Classes, Civic Rec, and a few senior events. We are happy to welcome Rubi Ramos-Ruiz as the new Recreation Coordinator. Rubi will oversee Youth Programs, Camps, Volunteen Program, and a few special events. Rubi will be under the supervision of Emily Buchanan.

FALL CAMP

Camp was held at Dana Middle School from November 22 to 24. There were 121 participants who enjoyed arts, crafts, group games, board games, and more. ADULT BASKETBALL Playoff games were held on November 21, for Sunday Adult Basketball League. Championship games were exciting with one game coming down to the wire! Nonetheless, the 4 champions for each of the divisions were decided for the fall season. Friday Adult Basketball League has two more weeks of game play, with playoffs scheduled for December 10. Registration for spring league is now open and will begin January 9.
