ARCADIA, Calif. (July 6, 2016)—An impressive first-out maiden winner going five furlongs, trainer Jerry Hollendorfer’s Silver Assault heads a competitive field of six 2-year-olds going 5 ½ furlongs in Saturday’s $125,000 Santa Anita Juvenile Stakes. Silver Assault’s primary competition would appear to be a pair of Doug O’Neill trainees, Secret House and California-bred Green With Eddie.

Originally run at Hollywood Park in 1938 as the Hollywood Juvenile, the Santa Anita Juvenile will be run for the third consecutive year at The Great Race Place and for the 77th time in its rich history on Saturday.

SILVER ASSAULT: Breaking from the far outside, this Kentucky-bred colt by the Distorted Humor stallion Maclean’s Music zipped to the lead in his debut June 25 and was an impressive gate to wire winner among a field of 10 here on June 25. Owned by Harvey Clarke and Paul Braverman, Silver Assault is headquartered with Hollendorfer at Santa Anita and looks like the post time favorite.

SECRET HOUSE: In a visually impressive debut of his own, this Kentucky-bred colt by Tiznow fairly toyed with four rivals as he skipped to a 3 ¾ length win going 4 ½ furlongs in 52 flat on May 27. Owned by Head of Plains Partners, LLC and Sheep Pond Partners, Secret House won in virtual gate to wire fashion and appeared full of run at the wire and galloping out into the Club House turn. He should appreciate the extra furlong and could be the horse to beat.

GREEN WITH EDDIE: Owned and bred in California by Paul and Zillah Reddam’s Reddam Racing, LLC, this bay colt by the red-hot sire Square Eddie was ultra-impressive in breaking his maiden versus six rivals by 3 ½ lengths here in a 4 ½ furlong test for state-breds on June 3 at odds of 3-5. Although he debuted in restricted company, his sizzling final time of 51.40 contributed to an outstanding Beyer Speed figure of 73 and a berth in Saturday’s Juvenile.
