The drafts of the Arcadia General Plan update and Environmental Impact Report (EIR) are now available for public review.
The General Plan update, subtitled, “Defining the Future: A vision for the future; protecting community character; a blueprint for land use decisions,” is Arcadia’s most important document in determining what the City will look like and how it will function over the next 25 years, according to City officials. It guides and influences how we work, live and play. It also includes an Implementation Plan that will ensure the goals and policies in the General Plan are carried out.
The draft was completed after a couple of years of consideration and crafting by city officials working with a diverse community committee with input from a consultant and local groups last year and this year at meetings, open houses, and presentations at events such as these in May and June:
Arcadia’s Firefighters’ Annual Pancake Breakfast (May 1) Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs and Forum (May 6) Arcadia Chinese Association (May 19) Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors (May 27) Real Estate Meeting formed by Chris Atkinson (May 27) Property Owners of the Downtown Area formed by Chris Atkinson (June 1) Arcadia Associations of Realtors (June 30)
Additional input and comments are encouraged before the approval process begins in October. The entire Draft and EIR are available for viewing at the City of Arcadia website.
