FIRE DEPARTMENT HONORED FOR HEART CARE

The American Heart Association has presented the Arcadia Fire Department their Silver Plus recognition award for our pre-hospitalcareforSTEMIpatients. BattalionChiefOishiandourNurseEducatorMarianneNewbydidthedatacollection and submission for the award by looking at the treatment received by any heart attack patients experiencing a STEMI event the past year. A STEMI is a type of heart attack that mainly affects your heart's lower chambers. The analysis looked at our data from STEMI calls such as response times, transport times, and data transmission from the paramedics to the local hospital. According to the certification, the Arcadia Fire Department “is a part of an elite group of prehospital providers recognized by the American Heart Association for [its] commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care, by ensuring that every STEMI patient receives treatment according to nationally accepted evidence- based guideline recommendations and standards.” We have won a previous award from American Heart Association for Sidewalk CPR program, so this continues to show the Department’s successes in providing exceptional care. Kudos to all our Fire Department employees!
