“Pearls Before Swine” comic strip creator Stephan Pastis, who was rasied in San Marino, indicates in his Sunday, Nov. 1, strip (below) that his mother lives in Arcadia. Pastis won a drawing contest in the Pasadena Star-News when he was 12, according to his book Pearls Sells Out, but became a litigation attorney in San Francisco before his Pearls strip was acccepted by United Feastures in 1999 and first published in 2001, allowing him to quit his day job in 2002, according to Wikipedia.
