As part of our ongoing efforts to improve pedestrian safety and ADA access, we reviewed the
intersection at Second and Bonita, which had an uncontrolled crosswalk. In general, we are
removing uncontrolled crosswalks

because they have proven to
decrease safety. In this instance,
there is also an unusual offset to
the intersection and Bonita Park is
on the northeast corner. Given all
of this, rather than simply removing the crosswalk, we have
decided to add 4-way stop signs
and ADA improvements at the
intersection. This will allow users of the park (and nearby school district site) to cross safely. Per our
standard policies, we have notified
the nearby area. Work has already
begun on this improvement and
should be completed in the coming weeks.
