Children’s Hospital opening 1/17

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles will host grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremonies for its new outpatient services center in Arcadia from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, to formally celebrate the arrival of the clinical expertise of its doctors, nurses and staff in the region.

The 10,000-square-foot Children’s Hospital Los Angeles  Arcadia, which began offering services in November at 468 E. Santa Clara St., offers gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, pulmonology, and otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat). Pediatric surgeons are also available at the center for office visits with patients and families. Laboratory and radiological services are also offered and more specialty services will be added in the near future. The center, which is open normal business hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. is a collaboration between the hospital and the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Medical Group, which includes more than 400 pediatricians and pediatric sub-specialists who provide clinical services to infants, children and adolescents.

“This new center gives San Gabriel Valley families and their children access to our outstanding outpatient clinical services right in their own neighborhood,” said Brent Polk, MD, director of The Saban Research Institute, chair of the Department of Pediatrics and vice president of Academic Affairs at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “Children who live in the San Gabriel Valley can now see their surgeon or pediatrician in ‘their own backyard’ both before and after surgery,” said Henri Ford, MD, vice president and surgeon-in-chief, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. To promote the opening of the outpatient center, the new location is showcased as part of promotional advertising campaign throughout the Westfield Santa Anita mall in Arcadia.

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is one of only eight children’s hospitals in the nation – and the only one in the western United States – named to the national “Honor Roll” of children’s hospitals in the 2010 U.S. News & World Report rankings for clinical excellence.
