Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, July 19th through Saturday, July 25th

For the period of Sunday, July 19th through Saturday, July 25th, the Police Department responded to 959 calls for service, of which 95 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department

during this period.




Sunday, July 19:

At approximately 11:11 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near the

intersection of Sunset Avenue and Huntington Drive for driving without the front or

rear lights illuminated. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor

of alcohol emitting from his breath. Through a series of tests, the officer determined

the driver was likely driving under the influence of alcohol. The 34-year-old male from

Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Monday, July 20:

At approximately 3:33 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom, located at 400 South

Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery investigation. An investigation revealed a lone

female suspect stole merchandise and when confronted by loss prevention, she used

force to flee. The suspect dropped her ID card as she fled and has been identified as

a 21-year-old female from Lancaster. The investigation is ongoing and the suspect is

outstanding as of the date of this report.


Tuesday, July 21:

At approximately 10:32 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Christian School,

located at 1800 South Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report.

Sometime during the weekend, the suspect entered the school by unknown means

and stole cash.


Wednesday, July 22:

At approximately 2:05 p.m., an officer responded to Citizens Business Bank, located

at 55 East Huntington Drive, regarding a report of arson. The officer discovered

someone set fire to a tree near the building. The investigation is pending a review of

available surveillance footage. The crime occurred sometime between July 17th and

22nd

.

Thursday, July 23:

At approximately 4:15 p.m., an officer responded to LensCrafters, located at 400

South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. Upon reviewing the

surveillance footage, the loss prevention staff discovered 21 pairs of sunglasses had

been stolen by a White or Hispanic male wearing a black shirt, blue shorts, and black

shoes.


Friday, July 24:

At approximately 9:52 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of West

Duarte Road regarding a fraud report. An investigation revealed the suspect called the

victim, under the guise of an FBI Agent, and convinced the victim to retrieve a package

and wire transfer money to the suspect. During the scam, the suspect threatened to

interfere with the victim’s professional license to convince the victim to comply. The

investigation is ongoing.


Saturday, July 25:

At approximately 12:38 a.m., an officer responded to the address of 165 East Duarte

Road, formerly Carl’s Jr, regarding a burglary in progress. Officers located evidence

that the suspects had entered the building and accessed the roof. The loss is

unknown. The suspects are described as two males wearing white shirts and dark

colored pants.
