Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, July 26th through Saturday, August 1st

For the period of Sunday, July 26th through Saturday, August 1st, the Police Department responded to 1,017 calls for service, of which 91 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled
by the Department during this period.
Sunday, July 26:
At approximately 1:52 a.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of East Huntington
Drive regarding a trespassing incident. The officer discovered an encounter between
the suspect and victim occurred and when the victim attempted to enter her garage
and escape the interaction, the suspect then forcefully opened the garage door and
refused to leave. The 35-year-old male from Pasadena was arrested and transported
to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Monday, July 27:
At approximately 1:45 p.m., an officer responded to The Shops at Santa Anita, located
at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a trespassing report. Mall security
recognized the suspect from past encounters and the 41-year-old transient male
from Rosemead was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Tuesday, July 28:
At approximately 2:27 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of
Magellan Road regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed the suspect
rented the furnished home and then stole the furniture and appliances prior to being
evicted. The suspect has been identified as a 28-year-old male from Arcadia. The
investigation is ongoing.
Wednesday, July 29:
At approximately 4:28 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of
South Tenth Avenue regarding a burglary report. The officer discovered that
unidentified suspect(s) turned off the power, ransacked the residence, and fled with
an unknown amount of property. A review of the surveillance footage revealed the
suspect(s) fled in a silver van.
Thursday, July 30:
At approximately 9:33 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of
West Longden Avenue regarding a mail theft report. A witness stated they watched
a mail theft occur. The suspect is described as a male with dark complexion, a
mustache and a beard, and was driving a dark grey sedan. Upon contacting the
resident, the officer determined the suspect fled with a stolen check.Friday, July 31:
At approximately 1:05 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near the
intersection of South Baldwin Avenue and Gate 8 of the Santa Anita Park for making an
illegal left turn. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol
emitting from the driver's breath. The 25-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and
transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Saturday, August 1:
At approximately 2:28 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1800 block of
Highland Oaks Drive regarding an extortion report. An investigation revealed the
victim’s Snapchat account was hacked, her revealing photos were downloaded, and
the suspect threatened to distribute the photos unless she agreed to a sexual
arrangement with the suspect.
