The lengthy profile story by Rebecca Trounson notes this year’s donation of $1,500 by the Arcadia Elks to the summer baseball team for 15-19-year-olds in the San Gabriel Valley that plays at Arcadia High and has spawned Major Leaguers such as Chicago Cubs relief pitcher John Grabow and Yankees Triple A player P.J. Pilittere, and which has won nine Babe Ruth World Series in the 16-18-year-old bracket.
