AHS student hit by car

A 14-year-old freshman student at Arcadia High School was struck by a car about 3 p.m. Monday (April 26) while running north across Duarte Road towards the high school, according to Arcadia Police.

The boy was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital and released late Monday evening with what police are describing as minor to moderate injuries. The driver of the car was uninjured.

Although there were reports that the student darted across the street upon the conclusion of a fight he had been involved in at a church parking lot on the south side of Duarte Road across from the school, police could not corroborate that story.

The vehicle was not exceeding the speed limit. Because the student ran in front of the car in mid-block instead of a crosswalk, the student pedestrian was deemed to be at fault.
