Every year when I hear the statistics about Arcadia High School students I am amazed all over again.

The news that followed this year’s graduation ceremonies on June 15 in front of more than 10,000 attendees at Santa Anita Park was no different.

917 of 936 seniors graduated — that’s more than 98%! (16 of the remaining 17 were only 15 credits short or are an English Learner and, thus, are still eligible for an AHS diploma)

Average grade point average: 3.23 (this is stunning to me — 3.23 Average GPA?!)

Average SAT score: 1863

Average ACT score: 28

96.5% will be attending university, college or trade school – 3,846 applications submitted to 305 different public and private institutions state and nationwide

69.5% attending 4-year college

These are incredible numbers, and something we should all be proud about in our community. On top of all that, these are great kids who also have something else in common — in my experience I have found them to be extremely friendly, personable, and eager to be of assistance.

Congratulations to the AHS class of 2012!
