Arcadia’s Bekins Van & Storage Building

For many years, “Bekins Van and Storage” was the tallest building in Arcadia. It was constructed in 1950 at 35 West Huntington Drive, just west of the historic Ross Field Balloon School Officers’ Clubhouse.

The four- story windowless concrete structure was one of many the Bekins Company constructed in the area. Interestingly, there were no objections to the construction of this building, but there were many when the next “high-rise” project was contemplated – the Bank of America office building on the south-east corner of Santa Anita Avenue and Santa Clara Street.
