For the period of Sunday, July 5th through Saturday, July 11th, the Police Department responded to 998 calls for service, of which 102 required formal investigations. The
following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department
during this period.
Sunday, July 5:
At approximately 2:38 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of
East Longden Avenue regarding a residential burglary report. An investigation
revealed a lone male entered a closed, but unlocked garage, and was scared off when
the resident came outside. The suspect fled on foot empty-handed. The suspect is
described as wearing a light-colored shirt, light-colored pants, a hat, and gloves.
Monday, July 6:
At approximately 10:33 a.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of Bonita Street
regarding an aggravated assault incident. The officer discovered a male suspect
threw a fixed blade knife into the window of an occupied vehicle, injuring the
occupant. The suspect is described as a White male with tattoos on his forearms and
wearing a white shirt and dirty black pants. He fled on a bicycle southbound toward
California Street. The victim sustained a minor injury.
Tuesday, July 7:
At approximately 8:13 p.m., an officer responded to CVS Pharmacy, located at 188
West Las Tunas Drive, regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed the
unidentified suspect stole the victim’s electric bicycle. The suspect arrived at the
location in a black SUV and after stealing the bicycle, the black SUV followed the
suspect on the stolen bike. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing a
white shirt, black pants, white shoes, and a “LA” hat.
Wednesday, July 8:
At approximately 12:50 p.m., an officer responded to Roncelli Plastics, located at
5449 Peck Road, regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer determined
unidentified suspect(s) broke into a locked storage container and stole three portable
air conditioning units. The investigation is pending a review of the available
surveillance footage.
Thursday, July 9:
At approximately 9:37 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of
Greenfield Place regarding a residential burglary incident. Sometime during the
previous night, unknown suspect(s) shattered the rear sliding glass door and stole
the victim’s wallet and purse. The investigation is ongoing.
Friday, July 10:
At approximately 4:34 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom, located at 400 South
Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. The male suspect was seen stealing a
fragrance bottle by the Nordstrom staff. The staff confronted the suspect and as they
escorted him back into the building, he returned the item and fled on foot. He is
described as a Hispanic male wearing a white shirt and black pants.
Saturday, July 11:
At approximately 12:06 p.m., an officer responded to 24 Hour Fitness, located at 125
North First Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle incident. An investigation revealed
someone stole the victim’s vehicle, which contained his wallet and car keys. The
vehicle was located by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s in the neighboring Temple Station
jurisdiction.
