What is e-waste? E-waste is any consumer electronic equipment that has reached its end-of-life or end-of-usage, whether in full or non-working condition. It includes most electronic appliances with a cord or a circuit board such as:
computer monitors, TVs, printers, PCs, laptops, copiers, scanners, fax machines, toner cartridges, UPS & PDAs, tower supplies, mainframe units, netowrking equipment, motherboard systems, VCR/VCD/DVD players, home entertainment systems, landline & cellular phones, small portable devices, vacuum cleaners, toasters, coffee makers, toaster ovens, irons, radios, etc.
* Electronic discards; the fastest-growing segment of the Nation's waste system
* 56% of American households have functional e-products that they will no longer use
* Less than 10% of e-waste is properly recycled
* 70% of heavy metals. 40% of lead & mercury contents found in landfills are from e-waste
