Fee Free Weekend for Day-Use Visitors
to the Angeles National Forest
Arcadia, Calif. – September 27 and 28 mark “Fee Free Days” for visitors to the Angeles National Forest in all areas where the Adventure Pass normally is required.
The free days are in celebration of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, and a new National initiative called “This Land is Your Land” on Sunday. Both days honor and promote volunteerism on public lands.
The free days this weekend apply to all of the areas where an Adventure Pass is normally required except the fees for overnight campgrounds (including group sites), concessionaire-operated sites and Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) areas still apply.
Please check with your local Forest Service office for specific information. Visitors who accidentally use their daily Adventure Pass on either of these days may have it replaced free-of-charge at any U.S. Forest Service office in southern California.
Throughout the year, Adventure Passes are required in high-impact recreation areas of the Angeles National Forest, such as San Gabriel Canyon, Big Tujunga Canyon and the Big Pines area (west of Wrightwood).
National Public Lands Day is the Nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance America’s public lands through trail maintenance, habitat improvement, tree planting and other conservation projects.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the event.
