Tongva: Our Voice, Our History, Our People
Exhibit at Arcadia Historical Museum
Grand Opening Reception Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.Â
This exhibit features the history and culture of Tongva people, Native Americans who have lived in this area for thousands of years. Tongva individuals from around the area have come together, at the village of Aleupkingna (Arcadia), to create this exhibition to share their past and present experiences with the public. Culture and history are presented through the eyes of Tongva people using words, artifacts, cultural materials and photographs. This is an extraordinary opportunity to learn about this remarkable group of people from the people themselves. The Grand Opening will include Tongva dancers, speakers and cultural demonstrations.
The Arcadia Historical Museum is located at 380 W. Huntington Drive, immediately behind the Community Center.
The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is always free.
